Does an old recipe card skip a step, use an unfamiliar measure, or assume knowledge nobody wrote down? Describe the unclear instruction in your own words and tell us what you are trying to make.

    Helpful clues include:

    • The ingredients, pan dimensions, and any temperature recorded on the card.
    • What you remember about the dish’s appearance, flavor, or texture.
    • The recipe’s source, if you know it.

When offering help, separate a likely interpretation from a tested result. Label a suggested trial clearly, and explain what the cook should watch for and record.
